Q&A w/ Erum Manzoor, SVP Global Wealth Technology @ Citi

What are you looking forward to at Women in Tech Texas?

I am looking forward to connecting with and learning from an incredible group of women who are making significant strides in the tech industry. It’s inspiring to see the diverse experiences and innovative ideas that each attendee brings to the table. I am excited about the opportunity to engage in thought-provoking discussions, attend insightful sessions, and gain new perspectives that can help us all drive change and innovation in our respective fields. Additionally, I am eager to share my own experiences and insights, and hopefully, inspire others on their journey in technology.

What would be your advice to other women in tech who are coming up in the industry?

My advice to women entering the tech industry is to believe in your abilities and welcome the new opportunities to learn and grow. The tech field is dynamic and ever-evolving, so continuous learning is key. Don't be afraid to take risks, ask questions, and seek out mentors who can provide guidance and support. It's also important to build a strong support network of peers and allies who can offer encouragement and help you navigate challenges. Remember, your unique perspective is valuable and can drive innovation, so always be confident in the contributions you bring to the table.

Women in Tech Texas is built on community; what advice would you give to our attendees on building your network and furthering your presence?

Building a strong network is essential for professional growth and development. My advice is to be proactive in reaching out to others and making connections. Attend industry events, join professional groups, and participate in online communities to meet like-minded individuals. When networking, focus on building genuine relationships rather than simply collecting contacts. Offer your support and assistance to others, and don't hesitate to ask for help when you need it. To further your presence, consider sharing your knowledge and experiences through speaking engagements, writing articles, or contributing to industry discussions. Being visible and active in your community can open up new opportunities and help you establish yourself as a thought leader in your field.
